What’s Your Website Score?

Published by at 6:20 pm under blogging,SEO

Have you ever wondered how well optimised your website is? What I mean by that, is how easy your content is to find on search engines.

Website Grader is an online tool that gives your website a score out of 100 and prepares a pretty comprehensive report (ready within a couple of minutes).

Website Grader

The report looks at many different components, such as:

  • metadata (title, description, keywords)
  • headings
  • image tags
  • readability
  • Google PageRank
  • number of pages indexed
  • Alexa rank (which it converts to a percentile – ie top xx% of all websites)
  • number of inbound links
  • Technorati ranking (which is also displayed as a percentile)
  • number of del.icio.us bookmarks
  • number of articles on Digg and total votes

Just to name a few. It’s well worth a couple of minutes of your time and can highlight any problem areas.

And don’t ask me what I got – I’m still getting over being the slowest blogger on the internet 😉

Hat-tip to Pearl’s SEO score for your website, where I saw this originally.

Ohh come on Meg, don’t be shy 😉

I haven come across that site a few times, never bothered to give it a go. But if were all showing off our numbers again…

I was a little surprised, said I got 97/100 for AFW and 91/100 for crazy meezer. I think it must be a little flawed, as it says my AFW pr is 4.

    Leigh

That’s odd about the AFW PR. I tried a couple of PR checkers thinking maybe the slap had been lifted, but naturally they’re down. I did see one return a PR7 for AFW 😮 – naturally I didn’t get a screen shot though, and I can’t replicate it… Maybe there’s something screwy in the datacentres.

    Oh, I got a 98 since you asked 😉

I was going to say… I got 87 (which I was quite pleased with) and I’m nowhere near the blogger you are!!!
    Well done. :)

    Hey CB

If you do redsultana.com without the www you actually get a 95 😀

  5. John Lampardon 25 Feb 2008 at 12:38 am

It gave me 98! I’m glad I did it though as it told me I had no meta keywords… I’m sure I added them when I was redesigning but must have forgotten.

    congratulations Meg
    what are meta words ?
    what in the title ?

thanks for the link – I got 91 /100 but I have a lot of work to do to tweak a few things – so much to learn.

You are not the slowest blogger … I am barely 32 words at best *hangs head in shame and shuffles off to take/find touch typing programs.

Well it tells me I’m 96 which kind of surprises me.

After that it may as well have all been written in Greek for how much I comprehended of the report. LOL. No, not that bad (although I did learn Greek at school).

Anyway, I have a question for you. One thing it highlighted was my lack of presence in “directories”. Interesting in doing a post on that? (or point me in the right direction if you already have).

Oh and it kindly pointed out I have 0 Diggs and 0 entries in de.lici.ous. Yeah, thanks for pointing that out to me. LOL.

Oh yeah, and apparently I have too many images!!!! Which is interesting given bloggers like Darren Rowse indicate that using images is important for blogs.

John – Yes, it’s handy for picking up little things like that.

Sire – hope you got some tips

    SP – Me first!

Burgo – sorry, hope you got some ideas?

Mike – no worries, I think a lot of people have found it useful. Thanks for providing the free resource.

Babyamore – sounds like questions for another post (or I’ll get back to you by email). Thanks for telling me how you went in the typing.

Lightening – my line is usually “it’s all geek to me”.

I think “big list” of blog directories have been done (I’m better with business directories) – I’ll see if I can hunt one down. But FWIW, I’m not listed on dmoz or yahoo either.

Hehe – my report told me I had 654 bloglines subscribers – if only (I think it’s like – 34)!

Yeah, I think most blogs have “too many images” (me included).

Thanks Meg. Do you think it’s worth the time submitting my blog to directories or are they really more useful for “how to” type blogs?

Well I am pretty chuffed. It tells me that my blog is 1 month 23 days old, and although I have no google page rank, I got 90.

Something totally OT but interesting. Have a look at Lightenings comments. The commentluv shows two different posts……. interesting.

  20. Megon 26 Feb 2008 at 2:15 pm

Lightening – that might be a good topic for the forum, in fact I just created one!

    http://www.aussiebloggers.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,1384.0.html

Kelley – I thought I’d have a sticky at yours & it showed a 94 (with the www in). Interesting that it “found” a blog at your site – MINE! LMAO (Duncan points out – “looks for evidence of a blog (I think it’s looking for a page with the word ‘blog’ in it).”

Re the commentluv – Lightening’s posted in the meantime (since yesterday). Grabs the last post when the comment is left, rather than being dynamic.

    Hi Meg,

This is a great free resource isn’t it. I think it’s fantastic.

I’m at 94 for my main blog – but most importantly, it reminded me that my domain names expires in a couple of months! I better get onto that…

My new blog is only 76 – to be expected because it’s new, but it did highlight a few issues I need to get on to.

I’d seen it before, but this was a timely reminder! Thanks.

Great tip. I’d never seen this site before. I think it will be very useful for me to see how well optimized my current sites are and to make my new sites stronger and more searchable.
