Drumroll Please – Introducing the Aussie Bloggers Community Project

Published by at 6:00 pm under Aussosphere,Australian Blogs, blogging

After struggling to keep this a secret I can now make this exciting announcement!

Aussie Bloggers

Over the last few weeks Snoskred, Andrew Boyd and I have been co-ordinating a new community project called “Aussie Bloggers“.

Our aim for this project is “empowering, encouraging, supporting and promoting Aussie Bloggers and the Australian blogosphere in general”.

To facilitate this goal, we have established a group blog (which will be launching on the 21st January, 2008) and a forum which is now open for registration.

To get the community established, we’ve gathered together a team of passionate, community minded Australian bloggers who have demonstrated a willingness to help other bloggers and are working towards raising the profile of blogging in Australia.

These bloggers will contribute posts for the blog, and serve as moderators in the forum. Many have been working very hard behind the scenes in getting the forum established.

The Establishment Team

A special mention to:

  • Snoskred who has shouldered the brunt of the admin work in getting the blog and forum “just right” (and neglecting her own blog in the process)
  • Snoskred’s “other half” – the quiet type working behind the scenes with the technical stuff
  • Sephyroth (an Aussie in training) who has been posting many helpful topics at the forum
  • Lani for the hours and work she has put in at the forum
  • Squadron for assembling a video for our launch (below).

While this website is targeted towards Aussie Bloggers, non Australians are also welcome:

You don’t have to be an Aussie to join the forums, in fact if you are interested in blogging at all you’ll want to join. Unlike other forums out there on the web, questions are welcome and you will find lots of friendly Aussies willing to help. Helping out mates is part of the Aussie way, after all.

We’d like to welcome you to register for the forum, become active in the community and naturally subscribe to the feed so you don’t miss our launch 😉

We’re all very excited about this community and looking forward to seeing you there.

    Meg,

you should take a bow – without your hard work and encouragement this project would not have gotten off the ground. That we have a couple of dozen + people all talking about blogging (and more every moment) is a credit to you.

Lots of other people helped, but Snos, yourself and Lani all deserve medals :)

    Best regards, Andrew

What? Your ready? That will teach me to do housework all day and not be playing on the computer.

Will be right over. Just need to throw some food at the kids. They keep complaining ‘I’m hungry’ it is getting rather annoying….

Meg (and everyone else involved), it’s great to see we’ve launched. I’m looking forward to helping out some fledgling bloggers with their efforts. I just need to come up with a way to keep constantly up to date with the forums without losing time everywhere else.

It’s so exciting! Kudos to you guys for putting it all together. It’s already a wonderful place to hang out, full of wonderful bloggers. How can I say thank you for the special mention? Can I just say that I feel honoured to have been included?

Thank you Meg, Andrew, Snoskred. You’ve created something great in my opinion. And we all get to benefit from it.

Way to go guys. It is an excellent initiative and you have all worked hard.
Squadron I LOVE the video. I didn’t know you got footage (or is that bumage????)of me in my bikini when we went to the Aussie bloggers conference in Brisbane? I was so surprised to see myself. lol

I haven’t been in the forum lately because I am thoroughly enjoying this holiday stuff. Is there a political party whose platform is permanent paid holidays? I may well vote for them in future.

Meg, it’s great to be part of the establishment team. I’m already posting to the forum but being hasssled by my 6 year old because he wants to play a game on the computer so I’ll be back real soon. Well done to you, Snoskred and Andrew for getting it off the ground. I’ve a good feeling about the aussie bloggers community and I love the vid.

How exciting! I didn’t know this was happening – I’m still blogging but haven’t been hanging around the blogging communities much in the last 4 or 5 months. A new ‘baby’ (a book I’ve written and published) seems to have demanded much of my time. Hoping to get back into the swing of things for 2008!
