Australian Idol – Tarisai Vushe is OUT

Published by at 8:56 pm under Australian Idol

In what is hardly a surprise, Tarisai Vushe has been voted out of Australian Idol this week (29 October). Perhaps her choice of song last night titled “When it all Falls Apart” was a hint of things to come?

The show had a bit of a look at what went on behind the scenes after last night’s episode highlighting Tarisai’s major “dummy spit” at Mark. Mark claimed that this was the response he’d hoped to elicit on stage. Dicko added that she’s “crossed the line” to which Tarisai responds “thank you”. Grrr …. I guess sometimes being polite works against you.

An article on the news site also mentions Tarisai’s rage last night:

AUSTRALIAN Idol wannabe diva Tarisai Vushe has blasted judges Ian Dickson and Mark Holden in a backstage spray that accused them of sabotaging her chance to win the contest.

Screaming at the pair after last night’s show and slamming a door in Dicko’s face, Tarisai said their critique that she was acting “fake” during performances would cost her the prized recording contract offered to the winner.

It was interesting that they quoted Dicko as saying

I hate to put the boot in, but I thought it was fake too. You were like an angry rap star to me … I don’t believe it.

I was sure I heard “angry Bratz doll”…?

One thing is for certain, Tarisai’s demise had nothing to with the judges, but everything to do with the way she has handled herself. I think she has a lot of talent, but those itty bitty, half swallowed “thank you’s” irrespective of what the judges say, have just annoyed way too many people. At this stage of the competition (and Marty’s continuing survival attests to this) it is equally as much a popularity contest, as it is a talent quest.

The verdict went like this:

Marty and Tarisai – both in the bottom three.
Carl, Natalie and Matt – suspense builds…. we’ll find out after the break…. Natalie chosen in the bottom 3 for the first time (after last night’s performance WTF?).

So Marty, Tarisai and Natalie are up on stage – the first one going back to the lounge is…. Marty. No kidding.

Tarisai and Natalie are left standing and the person voted out is….. we’ll find out after the break. C’mon guys – we just had a frigging break like 90 seconds ago. The ad break is longer than the whole previous segment.

Anyhow, no surprise – Tarisai is voted out. Marcia does not look impressed, and Tarisai mutters lots of “to be honest”.

I couldn’t sit through another performance of “When it all Falls Apart” – perhaps there was more wisdom uttered from the judges (maybe Marcia had a say)?

I wish Tarisai all the very best. The recount of her performances reminded me that, in my opinion, she is extremely talented. I’m sure she’s learned a lot from this series and I hope that future opportunities will present themselves for her.

LOL, I agree with you 100% – I turned it off after it was announced. She’s always bugged me.

Interesting that we now have proof that Matt and Carl are the top 2. I’d be willing to lay money now it’s those two at the opera house.

I did have a quiet giggle at Matt sipping his “juice box” at the ARIA after party 😉

Thanks for the recap, Meg! :)

I’m glad Tarisai is out. With the reported tirade she had at the judges about how they caused her the chance to win the contract, it showed just how she’d develop as an artist. Yes, a diva with all the wrong intentions. For all her talent, she should learn how to inject some real humility in it.

That said, I’m glad Carl made it through again! I’d love for him to win this! 😉

I follow Idol this year for two reasons A: My GF watches it B: Daniel Misfud played at my mates engagement party (although it was purely a coincidence)

The ad breaks make me laugh, there’s clearly a huge premium on the advertising break between the final announcement of the bottom 3 and the actual person who gets voted off, so it was interesting to see an advert for a coffee maker in that gap which appeared to go on for about 3 minutes! Must have cost a small fortune, shame I can’t remember the brand.

As for the winner, Carl is my favourite now that Daniel is gone.

Also not sure if any of you are betting people but betfair.com has odds on the winner of Idol Australia, $65,000 has been matched so far Matt Corby is 2/1, Natalie 3/1 and Carl 6/1 and Marty a long shot at 17/1.

I had an account in England and set one up over here as well (although it required a visit to the aus post).

Kin – LOL, the “juice box” comment was funny, no wonder the poor kid felt “out of place” – and Marty didn’t get home until 6.00 am. As Mark said, bet he was glad he didn’t have to perform solo.

    YC – it was a little “diva-ish”!

Gary – I just tuned out during the break, so I don’t think I even noticed the coffee maker (mind you I’m an “instant” coffee drinker). But it was just struck me as ridiculous, no wonder they went 10 minutes over….

I’d heard there was betting (but I’m not really the gambling type). I was so confident that Tarisai was going that I pre-wrote most of this post! That was a bet I would have made. 6/1 for Carl sounds like good odds though, with his performances lately.

Thank goodness for that. Have to say I wished she had asked to sing something different for her final song, not a good way to go out.

I think you are right again Meg, in fact said the same thing to my kids. It’ll be a fight between the mature woman, who is secretly fantasising about Carl parking his shoes underneath their bed and the doe eyed teeny boppers who are lusting after Matt!

    Tiffany

I don’t know if you saw a poster in the audience but it made me laugh – it had something like

“IF ONLY MATT WAS 3 YEARS OLDER!”

    😀

LOL, he might be legal then 😉

I also think the comment someone said about the other week when Matt was in the bottom 3, that the parents were confiscating phones was spot on, they’ve confiscated them and are using them to vote for Carl.

LOL Kin! That’s funny. A very good idea though!

Meg, I did see that sign and had a good laugh at it. Did you see who was holding it? Was it a ‘mature woman’ or a post high school bopper?

    Kin – LOL :)

Tiffany – no, it was a bit too quick!

    Hey Tiffany
If Carl ends up at your place, I hope for your sake he uses odour eaters.

She deserved to go, i dont see how she can blame the judges for her demise anyway – she presented herself in a TERRIBLE way to the australian public hence why they didnt vote for her, she deserved everything she got and if she does end up getting a recording deal out of this whole thing (she stated in an interview with the SMH that she wants to enlist Kyle Sandilands to help her land this deal) i for one wont be buying a copy of it, she needs to go learn how to act like a respectable human being – ie. not slamming doors in the judges faces, or pulling ‘talk to the hand’ stunts.

    Can you say Diva?

“It all falls apart” almost makes it sound like she expected to go before it even started! LOL. Ridiculously bad song choice, not just the song title, but also the band itself. Supposedly it was meant to represent an “angry rock song”. I am sorry but since when are Veronicas rock? Or angry? And on a night when she was trying to say that she wasn’t fake – why change your hair style so drastically and wear what looks like a fake wig?

That being said, not a single judge said a thing about her actual performance. If she was voted off for stuffing up a song, that’s one thing. But voted off because of what some obscure person says on radio, which nobody even knew about before the show, is really a bad way to go out.

I can understand Kyle saying what he did, and while Mark was immature, I can understand him doing it. But Dicko was just disgusting. Its too much. Not even a comeback from anyone, just a “I have nothing to say” and thats it.

When that happens to you, its what we call being set up. You are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Say nothing and people think that you are hiding something. Say something, anything at all, and people think you’re a whinger. And if you’re in that situation, and the people doing it push you enough, you react. We’ve all been there, and we’ve all done that. For the judges to put her in to that situation is just despicable. That kind of childish antic shouldn’t be televised. Leave that kind of nonsense for school playgrounds, where at least teachers can do something about the bullies.

Anyway I do so hope that Tarisai turns this in to a positive experience. I’d hate to think that this was the end of her.

dicko is so dispicable, he comes across to me as a racist, dicko has been so critical of her right from day one, never says anything good about her, i also think it was a set up on the part of dicko and mark, so that the people they like won’t be voted out. tarisai’s reaction was quite understandable to me i think she just had enough of their game of getting her of the show in a surttle way, dicko should have been the one really on the receiving end becos he is the real loser. tarisa hold ur head high up, u did a good job and continue holding on to ur God
