Subscribe to Comments Glitch

Published by at 1:06 pm under wordpress

I’ve just received an email from a second person who has previously “subscribed to comments” on a post, but has been receiving many comments on posts he hasn’t subscribed to or even commented on. Both subscribees were very polite, and one has even offered to have a look at the plugin code, which is very nice :)

It seems I’ve had a glitch with my subscribe to comments plugin. I’m not quite sure what the exact problem is. But I was using version 2.1 instead of the latest version – 2.1.1.

I have to assume this was a widespread problem. So if you’ve received comments on posts you have subscribed to please accept my sincere apology.

I hope that the upgrade will fix the problem, but please let me know if the problem persists. Goodness knows we get enough emails without ones that we didn’t ask for.

Milestone

I’ve just noticed that yesterday was my 250th post. w00t.

    I found the option:
    var subscribe_users_randomly = 1;

    Kidding, but I’d be interested to see how many others have had the same issue since it seems fairly random.

    Very funny :D. I didn’t know if you wanted to be named publicly – thanks again for your offer of help. See if I get any feedback…

    I’ll make sure to tell you if I get any more unsolicited subscriptions

    No one’s complained to me and I use version 2.1.1 of Subscribe to Comments on one of my blogs

    Mind you it could just mean that they can’t be bothered to complain

    Well, it seems to have been more than successful..
    I don’t think it’s sending me any emails now… ohwell :)

    Hi Will

    I upgraded a plugin on the weekend that’s playing havoc with my theme. Now when I approve a comment I just get a blank screen, and unless I deactivate the plug in I don’t even get an email of the comment.

    See if you get this one?! I’ve deactivated the plugin (one of my favourites) & might have to look at a substitute….
