What is RSS?

Published by at 11:21 pm under blogging

Dear Mum

Remember how I wrote to you recently about “what is a blog“? At the end I wrote:

Next time I’ll tell you a little bit more about how you can keep track of blogs you like (it’s called RSS feeds), but that’s probably enough information for one letter!

Well, I don’t have to now, because my friend Martin Neumann has done it better than I could have! There’s even a couple of nifty videos to watch.

You can read all about it at The Beginner’s Guide to RSS.

Thanks Meg, very much appreciate your comments.

I’m a big fan of RSS (and it’s uses) and I think it’s time we let the mainstream in on our little secret. 😉

    Hi Martin

You’re very welcome. I absolutely agree!

I remember less than a year ago I had no clue about RSS. I’d not long discovered blogs and had “heard about” RSS but just had no clue where to start! I sorted it out pretty quickly, and lamented the fact I hadn’t done it sooner (or rued the day, depending on which way you look at it 😉 ).

It’s so easy to assume these things as “common knowledge”, which is why I had intended to write a post about it….

I notice your article has picked up quite a few (well deserved) links, which is great :)

Hope you are well and truly over your “lurgi” of last week.
