Technorati is Misleading

Published by under blogging,blogsearch,technorati

For those new to blogging, you may not have heard about a site called Technorati. Basically, Technorati is a blog monitoring source that keeps track of all the blogs that have registered on the site. Registering is relatively easy and free, and if you’re new to blogging, and serious about it, it really is a […]

A Couple of Funky Web 2.0 sites up for Sale

Clarke Scott had decided enough is enough, and he wants to spend more time studying and meditating. Consequently, he is thinking about selling his two recent Web 2.0 creations Blogarate (which I wrote about recently) and wHooiz. Both sites come with nifty widgets, perfect for creating a sense of community on any blog. Anyone interested […]

The Difference Between Teachers and Educators

Published by under Humour,random

According to a news report, a certain school in Bankstown, NSW was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving […]

Problogger.com Failed to Reach Reserve

Published by under Problogger.com,Problogger.net

As I mentioned a few days ago the domain Problogger.com (not to be confused with Aussie Darren Rowse’s Problogger.net) was up for sale on eBay. It appears that after a flurry of last minute bids, from a total of 6 bidders, the domain failed to reach the reserve. The final bid was $US 4,050.

Google Webmaster Tools Now Reporting Anchor Text Links

Published by under Google Webmaster

Anyone that knows a little about search engine optimisation will recognise the importance of anchor text (the written words that link to your URL). John Chow certainly does, with yet another “evil” scheme to rank highly for the phrase “make money online” (no, I’m not going to play). Today I read via Search Engine Land […]

Twitter – The funny thing about Stats…

Published by under twitter

I’m still not sure I’m sold on the whole Twitter thing, but I’m continually hearing all the “cool kids” raving on about it, so I thought I’d give it a try. Heather Hopkins at Hitwise Intelligence (US) wrote today “Twitter Stats – Growing but Still Niche” which indicated a slowing in traffic to the site. […]

Ever Wonder What those Lyrics are?

Published by under music,random

When my son was little, he was into music, as many kids are – at nearly 16 he still is today, just that it’s his “own” music. It’s funny to hear kids make up their own lyrics to songs – almost as funny as when adults do it. When he first started school he told […]

Yahoo Xtra Advertisement

Published by under General,Yahoo!,Yahoo!xtra

So there’s a new Ad for Yahoo!Xtra in NZ (New Zealand). I recently posted about Yahoo!xtra automatically displaying Australian Ads on their network, unless advertisers tell them differently. It seems a lot of people are arriving here looking for the “Good Things Happen when X meets Y” advertisement. You can see the ad at Yahoo!Xtra. […]

Problogger.com vs Problogger.net – will Darren buy it?

So it appears Problogger.com is up for sale on Ebay. The bidding (one bidder) is up to $1,000 US and the auction ends on Mar-15-07 22:26:32 PDT (4 days 16 hours). I’m a big fan of Darren Rowse. It will be interesting to see if there’s anyone cheeky enough to take it on (John Chow […]

Utilising Social Media for Australian Websites

At the risk of stating the obvious, unless you have a really large budget, driving traffic to your website can be quite a challenge. This year I’ve been experimenting more with social media, as a distraction, an outlet and, to a lesser extent, as an advertising vehicle. Below is a summary of some of the […]
