April Fools – be Wary!

Published by at 11:27 am under random

My suggestion today would be to take anything you may read with a grain of salt being of course, April Fool’s Day. And, if you do have any “breaking news” to share, could be best to wait until tomorrow.

Traditionally Google go to a lot of effort to come up with a plausible sounding new product. Last year it was TiSP which delivered internet to your bathroom (via the toilet). Unbelievably, there were many people who actually wanted to know how they could get this service installed. Yep, people can be that dumb gullible.

This year they have announced the ability to “search tomorrow’s web today“.

We can use this technique to predict almost anything on the web – tomorrow’s share price movements, sports results or news events. Plus, using language regression analysis, Google can even predict the actual wording of blogs and newspaper columns, 24 hours before they’re written!

Check out the testimonials!

Darren Rowse has similarly announced that ProBlogger has launched PayPer Tweet.

Now, in totally unrelated news*, Aussie Bloggers today announced:

Earlier this year the Aussie Bloggers Forum Administration team were approached by the producers of the television show Big Brother. They wanted to put 15 of the top 100 Aussie Bloggers into the Big Brother House this year.

Some of our bloggers have agreed to be a part of the show, and today on the forums we are able to announce who that will be.

Drop by the forums to find out which Aussie Bloggers will be appearing on Big Brother 2008!

And it seems we have some sort of a bug on the forum cubby house, that’s changing all the words around. It’s quite chaotic!

* yeah, and if you believe that I’ve got a terrific deal on a bridge 😉

I’ve been waiting until this afternoon to post. Took me quite a while to catch on. I believed Darren’s post about Twitter. I thought it sounded like a strange idea. ???? In my defense, I wasn’t awake yet when I was reading my bloglines.

Oh yeah, and I fell for the Big Brother thing – only because it’s a totally COOL idea and all!!!! :)

Heh. The BB House thing had me going. Honestly, I even told my mate about it. And then 10 minutes after I told him… a loud “Doh!” could be heard from my desk.

I still remember their Pigeon Rank thingy a couple of years back. It was totally silly, and yet it managed to fool some people.
