Toilet Paper – Over or Under?
Okay, so it’s hardly delving into the meaning of life, but sometimes it’s the little things that drive us to distraction.
I have a thing for loo paper. I blame my father, who was always vocal on the subject after years of observing what the public did in the toilet facilities provided by his medical practice. Yes, he has some pretty gruesome stories (I’ll save you the gory details).
I’m a firm believer in the fact that toilet paper should roll (no pun intended) over the top, not under the bottom (no, that’s not a pun either).
I have, however, learned to resist the urge to flip the roll when I visit other toilets – well, mostly.
How do you hang it – over or under? Or, am I the only obsessive person with a strong view?

It used to drive me crazy when people had the paper coming from the top. I’m learning to deal with it.
Definitely over, but I am not obsessive about it.

Totally over. It’s much easier to pull it off rather than under.

Another one for over here too. I used to be obsessive, til I lived with the in-laws for a few months and MIL is equally obsessive about it being under. I learnt to let it go, and now it doesn’t even bother me when she comes over here and changes our roll over. As long as she doesn’t touch the one in the ensuite…

I much prefer it to be over then under, its much easier to pull, and its ‘cleaner’ then it rolling under.
But I won’t go changing anyones toilet paper rolls so that they are like mine.

Obsessive here and it has to be over. But I don’t say anything, I just change it while I’m there.
I think my obsession is because of working in hospitality and you can’t do the triangle thing with the end of the roll if its under. It just doesn’t work. Well, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

Over. Most emphatically over. But the girlfriend insists on under. And so the war of the bathroom began…

Over for me, but if my son changes it I usually leave it (he does it without me asking him). Now, to get him to put the toilet seat down!

Over! I don’t change it at anyone else’s house if it’s under but in my bathroom, I change it. It REALLY bugs me!

As long as it is not on the floor, a whole roll IN the toilet, draped all over the curtain rod or sitting ON TOP of the roll holder thingy I don’t give a flying rats arse…
But prefer over.

Definitely over. I don’t change other people’s but if someone in the household does it wrong, it gets fixed immediately.
Mind you, I don’t have an obsession about toilet paper generally and people won’t find zillion ply paper with pretty pictures all over it at my place. I’ve never understood why people by the gimmicky stuff when we all know what it’s used for.

It’s got to be over. I will accept no other methods under my roof (and my wife agrees, which is possibly why I asked her to marry me in the first place, and why we’re still married)
However, over the years I have trained myself to stop changing other people’s rolls as it would drive me insane if it was done to me.

Over. no question! Daniel Gara
I’m shocked to even hear any debate on this issue, clearly the proper way is over.
I’m pretty certain if you were to check out the Queen’s bathroom one would find the toilet paper in the over position (probably folded to a triangle).

Over.
I have corrected one or two in my time, but more in an absent minded this-is-a-pain way, not the OMG-I-have-to-fix-this! way.

Going against the crowd here but under. However I’m married to an “over” and we have three toilets so whoever changes the paper gets the choice although I have been known to switch it on occasion and so has he! Still married after 46 years of this.

I know what you mean by little things that one can get obsessive about. I am like that about the TV remote: the volume can never be at 13 or 17 or 23 etc. It has to be a number divisible by 5. Weird!

The pretty pictures don’t show if it goes under. I’m definitely an “over” girl (pretty pictures or not)!!! I can understand the need to curb the urge to change other people’s to “over”. Been there done that. I always change ours though if it’s been put on “backwards”.
Isn’t it interesting how simple topics like this can really get the comments section fired up. Everyone has an opinion – even if it’s that they DON’T have an opinion!!!!!! 😉

Oh, “over”, no question.
In fact, I read this post (and the comments that followed) with an overwhelming sense of relief.
I was beginning to wonder if I was just incredibly anal-retentive (well, I was in the right place to think about that) at being perturbed if the toilet roll was going the other way. I HAVE to change it if it’s been put on the wrong way in my home, and my hands almost twitch with the need to do it anywhere else – though I usually refrain….I’m not THAT anal.

Can’t say it worries me either way to be honest
What shits me (oh bad pun) is people who use the last of the roll and leave the new one just sitting there rather than putting it on the dispenser

Thanks guys – so glad to know I’m not the only one 😉
Seems we have 16 overs, 2 unders, and 2 who didn’t say – and roughly 40% who struggle with the urge to flip it 😀
Ah yes, the triangle thing. I’ve used that a few times, but mainly during “open house” when selling.
And I definitely get annoyed when people don’t replace the roll.
I hate to say this… I don’t care… as long as my butt is clean… food for thought though… hehehe

however it comes – I can’t dang remember but I think my husband is the one with the obsession about this – ‘over’ maybe – he also lieks the cute way the hotels fold the leading edge into a neat point.

I had to go and check. Over. But not a conscious decision.
Ooooh and I love the triangle thing. I sometimes fold the end just so I feel like I’m on holiday in an exotic hotel…

I has to be over. Though having said that we actually have it vertically and not even on a spindle thing. Please don’t hate.

if its a arms length away then its under… otherwise if its next to a wall and limited space only then is it over.
hahaha, brilliant bmil !
