Presenting the Top 200 Australian Blogs

As you know, each fortnight I plough through a list of Aussie blogs to determine the top 100. Usually, I run a minimum of 150 or so blogs each fortnight – ones that I have flagged as being close to the top. Some blogs move exceptionally quickly though.

Today I ran through a list of over 300. I actually have a much bigger list of 3,300 (with many duplications) that I just haven’t got around to culling (the duplications). I have not checked on these sites, which I normally do when a blog qualifies for the top list.

Remember to be eligible for the list you need to have claimed your blog on Technorati. If I notice that a blog hasn’t posted for over a month, then I generally take it off the list. A month is a long time in the blogosphere 😉

Of course the index is a total formula, but as a rough guide, if your Technorati rank is under 400,000 and your Alexa rank under 1,000,000 (unless you have a blogspot.com blog which ranks less than 20, as this is the default Blogspot rank), and you’re an active Australian blogger, then I’d like to get your blog URL (either by a comment on this post or email meg at this domain). Please remember, I’m just one person trying to do my best with this list. If you think your blog might be eligible please let me know. For more information see “about the index“.

My regular fortnightly update will be tomorrow, with the new additions to the top 100 list.

Anyway, while the following list is definitely not inclusive, I thought I’d include it, so the people on the list can get an idea of where they are ranking in relation to the top 100 list. Especially some of my favourite blogs The following are blogs that I have ranked 101-200.

It’s great to see 101-200 bloggers recognised! It’s sad that a lot of the new “Top 100” lists I see around the blogosphere start off with great (relatively unknown) blogs but are then slowly pushed out of the top 100 by the older, more popular blogs that own every list they are on.
