Days Like This
What a beautiful spring day in Sydney today! Brilliant sunshine, 19 degrees Celsius, not a cloud in the sky.
I had a lovely lunch out with the family, not because the food was great, but taking time out and away from the house. Enjoying their company.
After lunch I took my four year old to the bathroom to wash her hands. After we had washed and dried (under one of those drier that takes five minutes) she announced that she had to go to the toilet.
I groaned, and explained that it would have been easier if she’d gone to the toilet before we had washed her hands – that way she’d only have to wash them once.
She looked at me and said “You know Mum, you ARE a genius”.
On the way home we put on the cd player in the car to hear the strains of Van Morrison‘s “Days Like This”. It perfectly summed up the day for me. I hope you had a day like this.
When it’s not always raining there’ll be days like this
When there’s no one complaining there’ll be days like this
When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch
Well my mama told me there’ll be days like thisWhen you don’t need to worry there’ll be days like this
When no one’s in a hurry there’ll be days like this
When you don’t get betrayed by that old Judas kiss
Oh my mama told me there’ll be days like thisWhen you don’t need an answer there’ll be days like this
When you don’t meet a chancer there’ll be days like this
When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit
Then I must remember there’ll be days like thisWhen everyone is up front and they’re not playing tricks
When you don’t have no freeloaders out to get their kicks
When it’s nobody’s business the way that you wanna live
I just have to remember there’ll be days like thisWhen no one steps on my dreams there’ll be days like this
When people understand what I mean there’ll be days like this
When you ring out the changes of how everything is
Well my mama told me there’ll be days like thisOh my mama told me
There’ll be days like this
Oh my mama told me
There’ll be days like this
Oh my mama told me
There’ll be days like this
Oh my mama told me

Very similar to my philosophy “Always Look On the Bright Side of Life (from Monty Python’s Life of Brian)” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1loyjm4SOa0
I think I’ll go out for a walk to enjoy the day before it ends
It’s a beautiful day in Perth too. Far too nice to be sitting at the computer thinking about how nice a day it is.
Neerav – hope you got to take your walk.
Thanks for the link – I used to be able to quote whole dialogues from that movie (scary, I know). It was a favourite of mine during my teenage years and a good credo to follow.
CB – LOL – enjoy the rest of your afternoon!
I have only one thing to say in response to this post.
BRING BACK PAPER TOWELS!
