3. Aussie Blog Post(s) of the Week
A few links this week.
Stephen Mitchell has some interesting blogging statistics, but ponders the question “I wonder what the statistics are for Australian bloggers?”. As do I Stephen.
~~~~~~~~~~
Janette Toral has done an analysis of an older version of the top 100 Aussie blogs according to their “blog juice“. Blog Juice combines the number of bloglines subscribers (40% of the score), Alexa rank (15%), Technorati (30%) rank and number of inbound links on Technorati (15%).
~~~~~~~~~~
Australianblogs.com.au has written about the State of the AustralianBlogs-osphere, and produced a list of the 1, 299 “noisiest blogs”. It’s based on the number of backlinks on Yahoo!. They claim:
This list is by no means watertight and some of the methodology is a bit…dodgy (yes, there are some duplicate entries and glaring network site anomalies), but it’s good for a laugh.
I trolled through the top 500 or so to see if I could find any more blogs that should be in the top 100 list (and I’ve just realised somehow I managed to go through the Spring 06 list – d’oh! There’s another job for next week). Anyhow, that’s how I discovered a quite a few blogs that are either new to, or hovering just outside the top 100 list.

Blog post title of the week has to go to Colin Campbell “Australia Fraudband Speeds Shocking“.
4. Spotlight on an Aussie Blogs Community Blog (Bumpzee)
Bryce over at A Strangled Duck (upside down in a nerdy river) joined the Aussie Blogs Community this week. He sent me a message suggesting that perhaps it might be a good idea to review a blog in the community each week (and offered to help out). Bryce has also started up a WordPress community on Bumpzee, which I think is a fantastic idea and I promptly joined.
I thought it only fair to start the reviews with Bryce. It’s a new blog, just started at the beginning of June. For the most part, Bryce’s posts are short and pithy. Probably, my favourite post is “It’s not all about you“, which illustrates an insight into human behaviour. The blog design is nice and clean, and is easy to read, and I’ve subscribed to his feed. I’m interested to watch how Bryce’s blog develops.
Oh, and did I mention Bryce is fourteen?

I was pleasantly surprised to see Taming the Beast on the list Megan :). Thanks for compiling the list, it’s given me some more interesting blogs from fellow Aussies to peruse!
Hi Michael
(Sorry, for some reason Akismet was being over protective with your comment.)
There are a lot of great Aussie blogs both on and off the list, sorry for missing yours before
Thanks for dropping by
Thanks Meg for the link love. I’m now working on australia.ratified.org and hope to include all the Australian blogs in it. This will also give a different perspective as it factors in Feedburner subscription and Google PageRank. Cheers!
