Happy New Year!

Well, we’ve just hit 24 hours since “launch” and we’ve had an awesome response :) 38 new members have joined up (now up to 62) and we’ve had over 500 (or maybe even 600) new postings. At one stage last night we had 275 people looking at the forum.

A 99 Year Old Role Model

I visited my grandmother today. She is 99 and turns 100 in May. What my grandmother has taught me, by the way she conducts her life, in to focus on the positive.

Reducing Spam with the Comment Timeout Plugin

With the comment timeout plugin you can set comments to automatically close after a certain amount of time, meaning that no one (including spammers) can make a comment on a post over X days old. Here’s an idea of the level of customisation available (available in the options menu after you’ve installed and activated the plugin)….

Kindergarten Testing and School Readiness

To me, this type of testing is critical. It allows a teacher to identify children that are “at risk” – perhaps requiring some form of early intervention so they don’t lag behind. And also identify the ones who have a good grasp of the basics and perhaps might need extra stimulation. Funding for this kind of testing will benefit all children.

On the Blog Again

It occurred to me the other day that over the course of the last six weeks, I had written 52 posts. Of these, many were quite in-depth requiring a fair bit of effort.

I also realised (with a little help) it was way too much for a balanced life. And balance is very important.
