2007 Weblog Awards

The finalists for the 2007 Weblog Awards have been announced and voting has commenced.

Thanks to Bryce for nominating this blog in the Best Australia or New Zealand Blog category. Apparently I’m a finalist!

Other blogs in this category are:

After Grog Blog
All Men Are Liars
Ask Sam
Hot Topic (NZ)
iCiNG
John Quiggin
The Family Room
The Road to Surfdom
Tim Blair

According to the archives, the 2006 winner was “All Men are Liars” (with 4,000+ votes), and Tim Blair in 2005 and 2004. Needless to say, I’m not holding my breath on taking out this year’s title, but it would be cool if I didn’t come last 😉

Poll for the Best Australia or New Zealand Blog

From the many finalists listed, these are the Aussie blogs that jumped out at me in other categories. Please let me know if I missed any.

Best Individual Blogger

Best Business Blog

Best Pet Blog

Best of the Top 501 – 1000 Blogs

Best Culture Blog

The Voting Rules:

  • Polls close November 8, 2007.
  • You may vote once every 24 hours in each poll.
  • After voting in an individual poll you will be locked out from voting again in that poll (on the computer you voted from) for 24 hours.
  • Each poll has its own separate 24 hour lockout control. Voting in, for example, Best Blog will not lock you out of voting in other categories.
  • Vote totals are not final until certified.
  • Vote totals are subject to periodic correction for identified cheating.
  • Cheaters will be banned from the site.
  • We reserve the right to close some or all polls earlier than the posted end date.

Clicking on the Category titles above will take you to the poll for that category (in a new tab). For all categories – see the Poll Index.

Congratulations to the finalists and good luck to the Aussie contingent.

Wow it is like so many US world championships, with 95 percent of the nominations from there. Good luck Meg and the other Aussies.

I’ve just positively added to your 3.5 %. Will vote every day Meg.
    Good luck.

Thanks Megan – fortunately the poll only goes for a week! I’m telling myself not to get depressed 😉

  8. Crossflowon 03 Nov 2007 at 4:47 pm

Woo Hoo Bazzy Boy made it to the finals :)

I’m Bazzy’s Dad by the way, he’s owned me for about a year now. I loves him so much I built him a website and it just sort of went silly from there.

Even I didn’t expect the insane ramblings of a retired racehorse to attract as much attention as it does.

I put my vote in for dipping in the blogpond, hope you win your category, would be good to see some Aussies represented in the winners list.

If you fancy giving us a boost in the pet category, we would appreciate it. Up against some stiff competition but ahead at the moment.
    Go the Aussies!!!

    Hey Crossflow

Congrats on the nomination. Wow – you’re sure doing well (even out voting those crazy LOLCats)! I have voted and will do so daily.

Wish you all the best :)

    Hi Meg

    Thanks for the vote :)

I’ll be voting yours up each day too. I’ll put a message on the site as well letting people know that your in the finals as well.

If we can keep ahead I’ll be pretty stoked LOLCats has been about for a bit but Bazzy does have a pretty good following in the US and UK as well as Oz so you never know.

Well – I don’t have a snowball’s chance… but I’d rather be spared the indignity of last place! Appreciate the support :) I really hope you keep your place – go Aussies!
