Aussie Bloggers Index Update

I’ve updated the Index again. Debuting in the list are the following:

http://infosthetics.com/
http://www.skeptics.com.au/
http://andrewlanderyou.blogspot.com/

http://www.business2.com.au/
http://www.thinkprospect.com.au/blog/
http://nickcowie.com
http://www.cantcoachthat.com/
http://the-riotact.com
http://mattstone.blogs.com/
http://altnews.com.au/drop/

And missing from the list (should be at # 37) is Neerav’s Rambling Thoughts Blog. I’ll get that in next time, Neerav – thanks for letting me know.

Duncan Riley has posted an OPML for the top 100+ Australian blogs on the list, so anyone looking for an Aussie Blog fix can import the whole list. Duncan writes

….I still believe that …. collectively we should be promoting blogs more in this country, and that’s to the benefit of all Australian bloggers. Hopefully expanding the reading list of some people (including myself) may play a small part in this jigsaw puzzle.

Well said!

Rod has also posted an OPML at his Australian Blog Directory.

I’m currently checking 270+ blogs, but the script written by Scott Yang is proving to be a big help! Thanks Scott you’re a genius :)

And nothing to do with the Index, but in case you missed the latest dLook News, I thought I’d show you a screen shot of how our new maps and more information pages look. I’m really happy with the way it’s turned out. And more exciting news in the next couple of weeks – think web 2.0.

Nice work – hopefully there will be less controversy this time than last :-)

    Hi Greg

    Fingers crossed 😉

    Meg,

You welcome. However I don’t think it is called “genius”. I believe it is called the “lazy programmer syndrome”, where a lazy programmer was just trying to find short cuts to get things done :)

More blogs for me to add! Meg re dlook – thats a yellow pages killer!

What was the deciding factor on choosing the map service, it’s interesting to see TerraPages and not Gmaps, if that’s something you can speak about.

    Scott

We’ll maybe it’s not “genius”, but I reserve the right to label anything that makes my life easier, that I can’t do myself, that way! :)

    Hi Rod

Shhh – not so loud 😉 Re the maps – why be like everybody else?

hi Meg – thanks for including me – quite a surprise really to be in a top 100. Three cheers for Aussie bloggers

    Hi Coach

It’s all in the number – “You can’t coach that” 😉

Hey Meg! The screen shot looks great…and a little familiar 😉

For everyone else, if you have a business but don’t have a listing on dLook, get one! The team there are constantly updating the site and making fantastic improvements. As you can see from the screenshot (which I was surprised to find happens to be for my business :-) ), the layout looks great and there is plenty of room to really “sell” your business. I’m certainly a fan!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi Donna

Your listing IS the best, and was the perfect example :)

Thanks for your kind words and all your valuable feedback. It really helps us improve our product.

You have a great weekend too!

I noticed your blog is missing Meg!

Are you trying to stay impartial?

You work hard on your blog, and you deserve your place in the top 100 (top 10 I think you were!)

  12. Megon 29 Apr 2007 at 8:26 am

    Hi Brent

Yes, I am trying to stay impartial. A few people have said the same…

  13. […] arguments over methodology will continue to rage we are unbelievably stoked to have cracked the top 100 Australian blogs […]

    Hi Meg

Thanks for adding me to the list :-) , it’s pretty cool to start at #37 but I expect that rank to fall slowly over the next few months as I’m now splitting my posts between 2 sites

http://www.bhatt.id.au/blog/ – will be personal stuff (book/movie reviews, politics and environment, photography etc) roughly updated once/week

    & my new site at

http://www.roadlesstravelled.com.au/ – more informational stuff (technology reviews, business tips, travel reviews, money matters etc) updated several times/week whenever I get an idea for a new article

  15. Neeravon 30 Apr 2007 at 5:18 pm

PS I agree with Brett, you shouldn’t have to exclude yourself because the same formula is used to rank all the sites, there’s no favouritism towards yours in particular

Hey I just read today’s paper TV guide liftout in the Sydney Morning Herald and they linked to http://blogpond.wordpress.com … well done :-)

    Hi Neerav

Firstly, thanks for letting me know about your new blog – I like the title (are you a Robert Frost fan?)

Secondly, thanks for saying that I should put myself back in the index. I might just do that…

Thirdly, cool – thanks, I didn’t know! But that might explain some of the traffic today :)

  18. Neeravon 03 May 2007 at 2:01 pm

Well spotted … I am a Robert Frost fan and my character is such that when I’m given a choice I tend to take the road less travelled
